I've decided on buying a new amp. 4,650 Posts . It uses two 12AX7s in the pre-amp and a 12AU7 in the power-amp, and it … The DSL is an all-tube amp and it definitely sounds like a Marshall, but that's all you get. Marshall DSL40C actually has excellent sound quality, but it is not as versatile as Blackstar HT Club 40. Re: Blackstar Ht-50 vs Marshall DSL Blackstar is awesome- I own the HT-20 head. Discussion Starter • #1 • May 16, 2018 (Edited) I've been tossing around the idea of a new Amplifier for a bit. I'd buy one again tomorrow if I … It has the typical sound of a Marshall amp, which is big, fat, and aggressive. For a 1x8" combo in an adorably tiny enclosure, there's a metric ton of features. Things you get from the Blackstar that you cannot with the marshall: Mesa and fender tones, it still sounds good at low volumes, and it has very unique ways of dialing tones (Read the thread I made called: Why I love Blackstar). I've come between either the Marshall DSL 40C or the Blackstar HT Club 40. It's a decent enough sound, and if that's what you want then you'll probably be happy with it. 6-8 months in with the DSL and I still really like it. The HT-5 mk2 has a 12 in speaker, totally different voicing (and circuitry), designed by a completely different guy (Paul Stevens) And sounds dramatically different to the mk1 in the classifieds. Both models have similar volume levels, suitable for use in gigs. I can get them all for under £500. Marshall has a the three band EQ for the clean channel, but it shares it with the dirty channel. (I even go back and forth about which gain channel I like better between the two, depending on the day. It's the best amp I've owned for quiet playing when kids are in bed, etc, so I've hung onto it even after getting a Marshall DSL 40. Right, I'm down to a shortlist of three heads for my new amp. Basically, I much preferred the Marshall but I don't seem to quite "get on" with the Blackstar amps I've tried. Fender vs Marshall vs Blackstar vs Egnater (Page 1) ... FWIW i have a Blackstar HT stage 60 and i couldnt be happier with it, nails everywhere from clean blues to rock to the Joe B stuff. Blackstar HT Club 40 Vs Marshall DSL40C Decision Blackstar HT Club 40 is the way to go. Yeah, I know the HT is made in China...The DSLs arent exactly built like tanks either, though, of the 3 Ive owned, I … I have a honest suggestion that might sound silly but the new 5150 ver. Marshall came out with teh DLS40 because Blackstar was kicking their ass lately. I don't like the ISF feature at all and found the DSL sounded more beefy and more like what I wanted. It's a proper 2-channel amplifier in a 1-watt push-pull configuration, much like the Blackstar HT-1 or HT-5. What makes it especially useful for me is the emulated line out for headphones - it actually sounds good. The Blackstar has some diode clipping added to the circuit for added ultra gain if needed. Blackstar … In terms of overall TONE. Ive owned 3 DSLs, and am thinking about another, but the Blackstars, and the many, many clips, and research Ive done, has me gassing for one.
